It's no secret that the crime rate in our city is among the highest in the nation. Our youth, particularly our young men are losing their lives to violence at an alarming rate, and many are engaging in acts that are heartbreaking, devastating, and deeply troubling.

The grief, pain, and loss experienced by mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, classmates, friends, and loved ones echo through our community every single day. These losses plunge families into depression, despair, hopelessness, and, at times, a loss of purpose for living.

​

Meanwhile, many of us have found ourselves watching, praying, and waiting for change hoping someone else will do something yet the cycle continues. As the saying goes, insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

​

After deep reflection, it has become clear that much of the hatred being projected onto our community is a reflection of the division among us. We have been separated by religion, age, social status, political beliefs, sexual orientation, skin tone, and countless other labels using these differences as reasons to disconnect while we all remain equally affected and endangered.

​

Children, babies as young as one year old are losing their lives as a result of this deeply rooted and manifested hatred. This is not normal. This is not acceptable. And this cannot continue. Many of us carry visions, solutions, callings, ministries, and missions designed to bring life, love, healing, and direction to our youth. Yet fear, doubt, lack of support, limited resources, uncertainty, and lack of clarity often prevent those visions from being fully realized.

 

The time is NOW.

To move forward effectively and urgently, we must come together in love. There is no other way. Every vision planted in your spirit is a vision of love in action.

There is an African proverb that states:

“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

This is exactly what we are witnessing in our community.

 

We are calling on those who feel led those carrying solutions, visions, and a deep concern for our people to put aside what divides us and unite with one common goal: birthing solutions rooted in love for 2026 and beyond. Love is not passive. Love is action.
